The Tudor Villa 30 Dec 2020 - 1 Jan 2021

IMG_5009

Alvin was the one who booked the Tudor Hotel. We prefer to search for exceptional stays when we are looking for a hotel. And occasionally we are lucky enough to locate a decent price that allows us to stay in one of those amazing locations! I admit that I was first a little skeptical because I don't wear hotel style.

We arrived early after we had our early Dim Sum breakfast, the hotel looked great from the outside. Additionally, even though the reception was closed, the security man who was on duty was aware of our arrival and was able to give us the keys to our room. Easy and quick to do!

The entire house, including the entrance, is very remarkable. You wouldn't quite expect the "very British indeed" style in Malaysia. The detail is what makes this so charming.

20201231_200439

Whether it's the exquisite chandelier that hangs from the five-meter (18-foot) high ceiling or the Knight in Armor that welcomes you as you up the curved staircase. There's a ton of tremendous discovery. Almost all of the items in the entryway are available for purchase. Undoubtedly, fascinating mementos from Malaysia!

When the Tudor was first constructed in 1980, it was a secluded, extravagant, octagonal house for a pilot's cherished family. The turtle, which is seen as a symbol of longevity, good fortune, and happiness in many cultures, served as the original inspiration for the design of the house.

Standing tallest in the neighborhood and facing east, the house provides a stunning view of the whole community garden, accompanied by a gorgeous mountain backdrop and an amazing dawn.

IMG_5071

To turn the house into a stunning, enchanting, and retro castle, we went to tremendous lengths to retain every interior detail. The Tudor is a luxurious property filled with charm that will make you feel perfectly at home as soon as you enter.

IMG_5069

Above all, Tudor provide comfort and relaxation along with tranquil surroundings, attentive service, a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and peace of mind. A real home away from home, that is!

The bottom floor, which comprises family suites and the main lobby, is illuminated by a bronze crystal chandelier that hangs from an eighteen-foot ceiling. The attic rooms, a family room, and double rooms are on the first floor. An amazing curved staircase composed of exquisite original solid wood banisters leads to the first floor's rooms.

IMG_5077

We booked a 2-bedroom family suite with a living area. It is located on the ground floor. Our family suite had a beautiful design. Above all, everything was spotless! Anything that holds great significance for me. There is nothing to be unhappy about because everything was excellent.

The living area with 2 seater sofa besides a vanity counter and mirror.

IMG_5046

The TV console complete complimentary coffee, tea condiments & mineral water.

IMG_5051

Smaller Double Bedroom in our Family Suite.

A water dispenser is located in the entryway. We truly appreciate that this gives guests free water and contributes to less plastic waste. A mutually beneficial arrangement.

Every room has a mini-fridge, a safe deposit box, a hairdryer, a TV (but sadly only one station was in English), a kettle, and other amenities. Additionally, there is tea and 3-in-1 coffee, and WiFi.

Overall we have a lovely good stay at the Tudor Villa. We enjoyed our stay very much and were happy that we booked for 2 nights.

Palm Phayom Village Ranot 28 Dec 2019

IMG_7962

Palm Pahyom Village is located in Ranot District, Songkhla Province. We booked this hotel during when we planned our itinerary.

IMG_7963

As we know that it would be late when we come back from Khlong Daen Floating Market, so we need a hotel that located somewhere in the middle of Songkla and Khlong Daen. So here we were.

IMG_7768

It was kind of far drive from Phatthalung to Palm Phayom Village as we need to drive a big route. It is actually located near to sea side.

IMG_7769

Palm Phayom Village is a 15 to 20 minute drive from Floating Market. It was already late when we arrived back to the hotel. We just took our bath and sleep. Only when we woke up in the morning, then we able to see the hotel outlook.

IMG_7970

The design of the hotel itself are all the rooms are built beside or along a pool that every each room can have the individual private balcony at the pool side. It is kind of cosy.

IMG_7972

The rooms with air conditioning and the convenience of a 24-hour front desk. The front desk actually is the home of the owner of Palm Phayom Village. Free WI-Fi is available in all areas.

IMG_7974

Parking is provided and there is ample parking space in front of the rooms. Rooms here are equipped with a private balcony, a seating area and a cable TV. Shower facilities are in an en suite bathroom.

IMG_7976

It is not the best hotel but it was what we need at that time with the affordable price for a short trip for us.

Varni Homestay Phatthalung 27 Dec 2019

IMG_7313

After our visit from SampaoThai and Wat Khao Aor, we headed to Varni Homestay. We followed the Maps App to go there.

20191227_151647

20191227_151716

Initially we were driving along the normal highway then we started to turn into small roads, further in the small roads lead us drive into the rubber trees plantations with some wooden villages homes along both sides of the roads.

IMG_7347

IMG_7334

We were quite worry and anxious and wondered if we did follow on the right track that the Maps App shown. Alvin double confirmed with me the name of the homestay which I booked is that the correct one.

IMG_7333

IMG_7349

Finally we turned to the homestay. From far Alvin and I saw the village style of house. After we parked our car in front of the home stay, what appeared in front of us totally changed our perception of it.

IMG_7346

IMG_7359

We can see a group of village ladies were sitting on a platform and weaving the handicrafts or the baskets. It was kind of joyful for us to see them at work.

IMG_7332

IMG_7331

The beautiful decorated open lobby are filled with nicely handmade handicraft bags. Besides a cozy homestay in Phatthalung, Varni Homestay better knows as Varni Craft.

IMG_7335

IMG_7336

It is a Krajood handicraft learning centre. “Krajood” is a plant in sedge species, which commonly found in Thai southern region.

IMG_7337

IMG_7338

The villagers here use these Krajood weave as household goods like baskets or mats.

20191227_151315

We walked towards the counter and asked for check-in for our room. We found out that all the staffs here are only speak little English.

20191227_151401

20191227_151353

Fortunately for us there is a guy could speak and understand us. After that only I came to realize that he is the owner of the Varni Craft and Homestay.

IMG_7311

IMG_7310

Initially I was thinking that the room I booked is Standard Twin Room with 2 single beds as the Agoda website stated. After the guy passed us our room key.

IMG_7327

IMG_7328

Alvin and I were surprised with the spacious room and the Twin Room is comes with 1 King bed and 1 Single bed. It is just nice and enough to fit for 4 of us!

IMG_7329

IMG_7354

After Alvin and I putting down our luggage from our rental car, we told both Issac and Annabelle about the homestay which would be a surprise for them.

IMG_7351

IMG_7360

IMG_7361

They really enjoyed the environment of the homestay after we came back from our late lunch from the small town.

20191227_183904

20191227_184155

There is a pool outside of the room we stayed. And it is so cozy! There is a garden with a terrace and garden views.

20191227_185053

20191227_185151

Every unit is providing a patio, air-conditioned and provides a dining area and a seating area with a satellite flat-screen TV.

20191227_184428

20191227_184503

There is a fully equipped private bathroom with shower and free toiletries. Varni Homestay provides complimentary free Wifi for its guests during their stay.

20191227_184925

20191227_184946

Another thing we like about Varni Homestay is their breakfast! After we came back from our Thale Noi Lake trip, the guy just walked up to us and asked if we would like our breakfast to be served.

IMG_7537

IMG_7545

We were served with generous Thai rice vermicelli eaten with red and green curry together with seasonal vegetables such as boiled banana stalk, morning glory and bean sprouts.

IMG_7546

IMG_7547

We had been served with fried chickens as well. The real southern style fried chicken is not covered by flour. There's no dipping sauce, only crispy fried onion on top.

IMG_7541

IMG_7542

Chicken porridge or congee, hard boiled eggs and fried fish roe and some sweet sticky rice wrapped in coconut leaves too.

IMG_7543

IMG_7548

Our breakfast is so satifying and delicious after a half morning trip came back from Thale Noi Lake. It is so yummy!

IMG_7538

IMG_7539

Here is a photo taken by a friendly staff of us at the dining area, after we had our breakfast. And this photo actually was posted at the Varni Craft Facebook page.

There was a surprise - that we have a complimentary Krajood bag from the homestay! I did visit Varni Handicraft Center.

IMG_7339

IMG_7340

The handicrafts center itself is actually connected to the homestay and it is just located next to the lobby area.

IMG_7341

IMG_7342

It is filled with beautiful and nicely weaved handbags, purses and small decorative items.

IMG_7343

IMG_8132

I did get myself a handbag and a matching purse. Both costs about RM125.00. I think is really worth it as compared if I get this in Malaysia. It looks trendy as well and not old fashion.

IMG_7304

Overall we are indeed enjoyed our stay here even though is only one night! It is a really relaxing and cozy place to stay.

20191227_184549

We will definitely come again if we have chance to travel Phatthalung again!
