Kuching, Here We Come! 28 Jan 2011

Picture 005It is time again to celebrate Chinese New Year at Kuching!

We booked the air tickets few months back, we flied with Fire Fly.

It is a brand new experience using Fire Fly and this time around we have to go to KLIA to take off.

The kids were so excited as the KLIA are spacious and more space to roam and running around. And, more shops too!

Both Issac and Annabelle were climbing up and down everywhere they went!

Picture 022They can feel the excitement of going back to Kuching and meet up with their dear cousins.

So happened that there is a mini air craft in the KLIA children playground area for children to play,it really looks like a real airplane!

Both were so happy sliding down from the door of the airplane!

Picture 020We were boarding on time. I did bring along a lot of the kids stuffs just in case both feel bored on the plane or in the boarding room.

Luckily, both of them know how to spend the time by playing with each other. Siblings love!

Alphabet Book : b

PA210017 Mummy thinking of want to do something with the balance of the colour papers that we had, thus here comes the ‘bowl’ we did this week. We had done few art crafts together, and there were left a few piece and pieces of the colour papers which Mummy feels it would be a waste if just throw away like that. That is how we using the leftovers and come out our craft of the week.
Materials:
  • Various colours of colour papers
  • Glue
  • Pencil
  • Puncher
PA210028 To Make:
  1. Draw a big bowl in the paper.
  2. Using the puncher to punch out various of your left over colour papers, which you feel want to dispose off. Plan the design of your bowl: what is the colour you want it to be. Let the kids plan their own design of the bowl.
  3. Put some glues on the bowl, and paste it with the small colour papers that you have punched out.
It is actually quite tedious as the small litter tiny pieces of colour papers really made kids out of patience. Thus, this one we do it together with the kids. End up, Issac’s bowl finally was full of the white rice pouring out from the bowl itself. As we just glue the balance of pieces out of the ‘bowl’…Hahaha…

b is for butterfly

PA210012Mummy try to at least do two art crafts a week, even though it is really tiring after working hours from office…and some of the art or paper materials that needed to prepare for the kids. But, it is kind of tension releasing exercise too for mummy…

So, here is What You’ll Need:
  • Orange and black craft foam
  • transparency sheet or clear plastic sheet protector
  • white out
  • black sharpie
  • glue
  • scissors
PA210022 How to Make the ‘b’ for butterfly:
  1. Cut out a lowercase ‘b’ from a piece of black foam sheet. To make the letters go along with the uppercase letters we’ve done in the past, this letter was cut from a piece of foam that was about 4” x 4” ~ small, but oh so cute!
  2. From the excess black foam, cut out two antennae and the proboscis for the butterfly {what the butterfly uses to drink}. You can also add six legs if you’d like!
  3. Cut out the background for the butterfly’s wings using the orange craft foam.
  4. Lay the sheet protector over top of the orange wings and trace around the edge and cut out the overlay for the butterfly’s wings to the same size as your orange foam piece.
  5. Using the black sharpie, draw the veins for the butterfly’s wings onto the sheet protector.
  6. Let your little one dab white out onto the edge of the wings to make the white spots of a monarch.
  7. Glue or tape on the wings, antennae, and proboscis.
  8. Add a wiggle eye.

Like always…Belle will using black ball pen to scribble the round, round or circle, circle things on her art paper. Mummy do some modifications here as we do not have any clear protector sheet, thus just using the orange colour papers and black marker to draw out the wings veins. Surprisingly turn out very attractive.

Alphabet Book : B

P8270126 This is actually a simple arts which Mummy remembered, mummy did in the primary school time. So happened that we did letter ‘B’, so mummy purposely went to Mydin and bought a set of water colour. Well, times flies and changing. During Mummy school time, the ‘Panda’ brand water colour was the most popular one, and the water colour tube is made of soft silver colour materials with the plastic white cap. Well, now ‘Buncho’ brand is the most popular one, the packaging is in soft plastic tube with plastic cap as well.

Materials:
  • Water colour
  • Art Paper

P8270127 To Make:

  1. Fold the art paper in the centre.
  2. Pour little portion of water colour near the centre of the folds. Let the children choose what colour they like. Both kids love various of colours, they almost want to use every single colour in the water colour set.
  3. Fold the paper and press it flat using the ruler and try to make a shape of a butterfly, as both upper and lower portions further from the centre of the fold.
Really love to see their face expressions after they opened the fold and saw the colourful and wonderful butterfly in their paper. They love it.

B is for Bumblebee

PA210013Both Issac and Annabelle are enjoying doing the crafty alphabets, after we had done for the letter ‘A’ and ‘a’. Every night if possible we tried to make a fun craft out of the alphabet letter. Here we come to letter ‘B’. Again, it is from the totally tots.

What You Will Needed:
  • Yellow foam sheet or construction paper
  • Black sharpie or marker
  • Wax paper
  • Googly eye
  • Black pipe cleaner
  • Glue
PA210021 How to Make the Bumblebee:
  1. Cut an uppercase 'B' out of the foam sheet or construction paper. The original suggested to use a foam sheet that was about 4" x 5" in size. But Mummy just using the construction paper.
  2. Cut out two circles from the wax paper to use as wings for your bee.
  3. Cut the pipe cleaner into two pieces ~ one should be 1/3 of the length of the pipe cleaner, the other 2/3 of the length. Mummy did a little changes here as using the black colour ribbon, as our house do not have the pipe cleaner, and I feel more safer using the soft ribbons as the pipe cleaners sometimes can be very sharp.
  4. Poke the small pipe cleaner through the bottom base of the 'B' to use as a 'stinger'. Same as here too, change it to the small black colour ribbon.
  5. Poke the longer pipe cleaner through the upper part of the 'B' to use as the bee's antennae.
  6. Have your child draw stripes on the B using the marker.
  7. Glue on the googly eye and wings.
Both were so amazed when seeing their bumblebee really flying. Belle using her black pen scribbles on the rest of the paper, making the bumblebee really busy and dizzy…

Alphabet Book : a

P8230120
Well, this is the idea which Mummy come out after few weeks of reading, searching online on the home school concept things. This type of art work actually, Mummy did it during primary school time.

Materials:
  • Glue
  • Red, green and Brown colour papers
  • Pencils
P8230121 To Make:
  1. Draw an apple on a sheet of plain paper, with the stem and leave.
  2. Tear the colour papers into pieces using hands.
  3. Glue the pieces onto the apple.
Annabelle was so happy on the art craft that we did. Mummy replaced the brown colour stem to brown colour pencil because Mummy just managed to bought red and green colour papers, but Belle seems did not care at all, and just glued the stem with red colour papers too.

Issac just coloured it with brown colour pencil. He wrote his name and the word ‘Apple’.
