Mormon Helping Hands ~ Relief Efforts for Peninsular Malaysia East Coast Flood Victims 3 Jan 2015

Hygiene_and_food Due to the unprecedented December heavy down pours, East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia had experienced the worst floods in 30 years, which affected several states especially the northern and eastern regions, displacing over 200,000 people from their homes. Our church have organized an event to prepare some relief packets to those whom was affected.

The event was organized by LDS Charities Humanitarian Specialists, Sid and Linda Thatcher, under the direction of District President Paul Dass, who leads the six congregations located in Klang Valley. LDS Charities strives to provide immediate emergency assistance to victims of natural disasters, civil unrest, or famine.

Hygiene_Kit_LineThis is our family first time ever charity activity which we participated in our church. We were asked to be at the church by 9:00am. After we reached and had our breakfast at the nearby Kopitiam, it was almost about 9:30am. Church members already in the PJ chapel for the works need to be done, and started.

I was amazed by the numbers of the church members which flocked to PJ chapel, they are from Cheras branch, Kuala Lumpur branch, Puchong branch, Klang branch, Petaling Jaya branch and our own Subang Jaya branch. All of us are ready to provide service for the flood victims.

Many_Hands_in_Food_lineThere were 2 assembly line – hygiene supplies and food supplies. I joined the hygiene assembly line, Annabelle was with me too. We were packing all the soaps, toothbrushes, tooth pastes, small towels, sarongs, sanitary pads, etc; Food assembly line, I can see the Milo, instants Mee Maggi, biscuits, sardines, mineral waters, and a lot more. Daddy and Issac were with the final packing line, where they need to pack all the packets into the big boxes.

With donations from LDS Charities, 1000 hygiene kits and 1000 "food kits" were assembled into a relief packet. The packet included food and hygiene supplies for a family of three to last for 48 hours. All of the church members from young adults, families with children, and senior citizens joined in the “Helping Hands”.

Ready_for_the_LorryI felt the warmth and joy in my heart and overwhelming as I saw so many of us rendered the services, even our small little children trying to help. It gave me an impressions that is – we teach our children by living as an example, teaching them from small how we are able to follow Jesus Christ – serve one another.

After the kits were assembled and boxed, a truck was loaded and sent to the Red Crescent Society (Red Cross) who will deliver the goods to the flood stricken area.

We feel happy and are  grateful for the blessings from Heavenly Father and for the opportunity to serve those affected by the flooding, even though we are not there but at least a little that we are able to help and do. Both children also happy on they are able to do works to help ^^.

Sunway Lagoon 1 Jan 2015

DSC00620We have been to Sunway Lagoon a few times, but it was never have the chance to take the photos or pictures. It was due to the camera is not waterproof, and can not get into the water.

This time, Daddy bought a waterproof camera, so that we are able to bring to Sunway Lagoon and even though in wet conditions, still can be used to snap some photos.

Normally, we would go to the Water Park, Wild Life Park and the Amusement Park. The Extreme Park and the Scream Park are not our cup of tea!

DSC00617Annabelle was so scared when we asked her to play the Congo Challenge, after she tied one time, then she was so excited to go for the next round and the next! She was racing together with her brother Issac.

Frankly speaking, I myself was afraid because it is an adrenalin-pumping ride head first down slide.

Then, we went for a spin in the loops of the African Pythons, kept on screaming inside! We also do the Cameroon Climb, get drop 15 meters then shoot back up 8 meters for prolonged fun.

DSC00623The main reason why we were here is because of this Vuvuzela ride!

Dive into the belly of the beast that launch from a tower 11 storeys high, plunge through turbulent water like the rapids with twists and turns then plummet into the world’s largest funnel where you’ll be gobbled up by the beast that is the Vuvuzela.

Behold the world’s highest, largest and most thrilling water ride!

DSC00628The kids loose in the interactive water playground of Little Zimbabwe, an African village complete with huts and Masai warriors guarding the entrance.

Enjoy a great ride and cinematic experience like no other, as you move through the ultimate multi-sensory journey filled with thrills and spills!

With wind, fog, mist, sprays, fountains, water jets, light, lasers, 3D visual, sound and movement; the Waterplex 5D promises to be truly wet and wild.

DSC00631Sunway Lagoon’s Surf Beach is a man made wonder right here in the city where holiday makers all around the world come for a fun filled day in the sun.

You can either laze in the beach or for the thrill seekers you can enjoy surfing or body boarding and beach volleyball. You can also show off your surfing skills on Malaysia’s only Surf Simulator or ‘Flow Rider’*.

DSC00637After we got change to our shirts, we went to the Wildlife Park.

Sunway Lagoon Wildlife Park with more than 150 species of animals from around the world, the first and only fully interactive animal-themed attraction in Malaysia.

From learning about various species through our unique Wildlife Encounters, observing the animal’s natural antics in specially created habitats, to getting entertained by the talented animal stars in the Wildlife Theatre, there are educational and interesting activities for the entire family.

DSC00636Explore unique habitats and interesting attractions like the new snake area, New World Monkey, Pet Village, Jungle Trail, White Lion Kingdom, Tree Top Terrace, Bird Savannah, Tiger Land as well as Rimba and Village.

The Wild Encounters - various animals that reside in the Sunway Lagoon Wildlife Park. Interact with a host of exotic animals including the majestic white lions Zola & Zuri, cotton top tamarin, pygmy marmosets, meerkats, prairie dogs, miniature horses, otters, sun bears, panthers, tigers, eagles, hornbills, peacocks, pythons and many more!

It is a great outing to kick start the year of 2015!

Christmas Celebrations @ One City USJ 24 Dec 2014

This year, Daddy had bought a lighted snow man, instead of a Christmas tree to place at our house. We put it in front of the our entrance door. We pulled an extension cables to light the snow man. It looks cute!

This couple of weeks we did visit One City quite often, as it is near Christmas, thus the Christmas decorations are filled within the shopping mall. There is a high and giant Christmas tree at the centre of the Atrium. It looks grand!

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Subang Jaya Branch Christmas Party 20 Dec 2014

DSC00592 This year is our special Christmas Party, as we celebrated with our Subang Jaya church members.

Well, it was just a simple pot luck party with the church members, and of coarse we were asked to invite our family and friends to join our branch Christmas Party as part of our missionary works.

Our branch presidency never forget about the missionary works for members.

DSC00596 It was a warm party as not what I had expected. May be if in Sidang Injil Borneo Kuala Lumpur (SIBKL), it would be celebrate in huge and grand, such as musical performances, stage performances, plays, etc. They would have grand celebration.

At Subang Jaya branch, all the programmes are organised by the youth group. There was an opening hymn follow by the opening prayer. Then there was a short play presented by the youth, followed by a short presentation by the primary children, after that there are some games which all of the church members can participate. And, our pot luck dinner too, a lot of food we prepared.

IMG_9639 Our youth were so thoughtful that, they prepared some gadgets for “Christmas Party Photo Booth” for us to snap photos. Finally, the most important part – Santa Clause is coming to town! Our branch Missionary Couples Elder Bagley became our Santa Clause for the gift exchanging and sharing moments ^^. Every each of us were asked to prepare a small gift of around RM5.00, then we will exchange within by drawing the numbers by Santa Clause.

Our family have a warmth and home coming Christmas Party evening. Even it is just a small party, but we were surrounded by kind, humble and hard working ever Saints in following Christ!

All this while, I was wondering how would our Christmas be? Will it be different? How different it is?

Eventually, days before actual Christmas, the messages and videos from our church website let me realise something, I know my knowledge before this was silly, but at least this is my realization:

meme-christmas-eyring-light-1354828-galleryChristmas is not a celebration of gifts giving.
Christmas is all about Heavenly Father’s love to us.
Jesus Christ was the First Gift from Heavenly Father to us.
For Heavenly Father so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
