Umbrella in Rainy Day Craft

IMG_9636

We are learning “I Am Thankful for the Water” today. We learn that water was an important part of the Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ Creation.

IMG_9637

We need water for many things. We learned about the stories in the Scriptures which are related to the water, such as Moses and the Israelites in the wilderness.

IMG_9638

Water is important in the Church such as John the Baptist basptizing Jesus in the Jordan River.

IMG_9640

We use water during being baptized and passing the sacrament.

After the lesson, the children got to do this fun little umbrella craft with raindrops! They had a blast adding the raindrops to their umbrella!

You'll Need:

  • Colour pens
  • Colour construction papers
  • Scissors
  • Glues
  • Small straw

IMG_9642

To Make:

  1. First, choose the colours for your umbrella. Cut out the pieces. I just drew the parts of the umbrella freehand. Then, because I got these dark purple and light purple construction papers, so I used it.

  2. Once you have assembled the umbrella pieces, use the glue stick to adhere them to the construction paper.

  3. For the arm of the umbrella, I used the drinking straw of the packet drinks. So, it is just nice to fit our small paper.

  4. After glued the umbrella on the paper, then let the children start adding dots of raindrops all over the paper by using the colour pens or crayons.

I enjoyed the project because it was fun for them and easy for me! Here are the children’s works!

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Puchong Branch ~ EQ Activity Botanical Garden Putrajaya 12 Mar 2016

IMG_0908It is a branch activity organized by Daddy as Elders Quorum President of Puchong branch. It is a picnic at the Botanical Garden Putrajaya.

Our family never been to the Botanical Garden Putrajaya, thus it is quite something new and excited for us. We are in charged of the disposable cups, disposable cutlery, soft drinks and ice.

IMG_0910We were gathered at the Church at 10.00am, and we took off from there. We find a suitable place for our picnic after we reached there.

The Putrajaya Botanical Garden itself is huge! We did not go on tour on it, just some where nearby the amenities, such as toilets and changing rooms.

We waited for all the members arrived, it was so happy that there is an investigator joined this activity today.

IMG_0912We started by the opening prayer and blessing the food. There were food which were prepared by the sisters, such as sandwiches, fried rice, fried mee hon, cakes, watermelon, etc.

The children were playing around. They were catching the butterflies, moths, and whatever insects that they can find around them in the park.

IMG_0917Even playing with the sands! Oh my! Children always know how to get themselves busy with the dirt!

Russell went to rent a bicycle and cycle around, all the younger children also follow and try on.

After the meal, we shifted to another area for the games session. The Young Single Adults prepared the games for the day. There were a few games but we only managed to play two.

IMG_0928One was like a water balloon war, which everyone participated running here and there to avoid the “water bomb”, it was fun!

Everyone enjoyed it and have a great time getting wet! It happened to be like a fashion show as everyone grabbed the garbage bag to suit and shielded themselves for the water.

IMG_0942Another game is the catch and find! Everyone is running around to avoid to be caught but have to catch the opponents team members.

We the sisters just sitting there and laughing looking at the YSA and EQ, we were the cheer leaders for both teams.

It was a nice outing as everyone of us really enjoyed with the companion of each other and have fun together. Around 12.00pm, we ended the activities by a closing prayer offered by President William, our branch YSA President. Everyone went back with a smile!

Sun, Moon and Stars Craft

Today lesson was “I Am Thankful for the Day and the Night”. Thus, we are learning about everything about sun, moon and stars, that Heavenly Father had Jesus Christ create the day and the night to help us.
IMG_9619
You'll Need:
  • Paint – black and white (grey) or silver, red, orange and yellow
  • Dark Blue or Black colour construction paper (1 piece)
  • Light Blue construction paper (1/2 piece)
  • Sponges
  • Scissors
  • Glue Stick
  • Cup to trace the size of the sponge
  • Cotton buds
IMG_9620
To Make:
  1. Cut the lighter blue construction paper in half. Use a glue stick and stick it down on half of the darker blue or black construction paper.
  2. Print out the scriptures verses and cut out one for each kid in preparation.
  3. Have your child paste down the verse at the top or bottom of the paper.
  4. Find a cup to trace around and trace with a Sharpie on the sponge. Cut out where you traced. You will want two sponges – one for the sun and one for the moon.
  5. If you have three paint colours – red, orange and yellow for the sun, squirt them out on a plate. Swirl with a cotton bud, but do not mix completely.
  6. Have the kids dip the sponge in the paint and press it onto the lighter blue paper. Have them use a cotton bud to pull away from the paint to create the rays of the sun.
  7. Mix the grey paint by combining black and white (or you might just start with a grey paint). In my case, I got silver paint, thus I used silver. Like the sun, just let them dip it and stamp.
  8. As for the stars, as I do still have collections of stickers, I just asked the children to stick on the moon page.
There you have the great lights created by the Lord.
