I first came across this Paper Plate Noah’s Ark craft when I was preparing the lesson for the Sunbeam class searching through the internet for an extra art and craft activities that would make the children interested in learning.

I intend to have the Sunbeam children doing this craft as we are learning about the Lord’s creations which including animals. I did some modifications as I used some more economical materials which I can find.

IMG_6010You'll Need:

  • White colour Paper Plate
  • Brown colour Paper Plate
  • Colour pens
  • Blue colour construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glues
  • Staples
  • Draw or print out the animals in pairs ( I printed out from this website: http://www.firstpalette.com, there are so many types of animals to choose from)

To Make:

  1. Colour and cut out the animal print-outs or drawings. I printed out these animals sets on A4 paper size card stocks. After cutting out, just put aside.
  2. Take 1 white colour paper plate use as the background of the sky, and draw a rainbow using the colour pens.
  3. Take1 brown colour paper plate and cut it into half and use one half to form the front ark. Cut out 3 circles to form the port holes of the ark. Using brown and black colour pens to draw out the planks.
  4. Cut out waves shapes using blue colour construction paper and glue it on the brown colour ark.
  5. Start to arrange the animals, either glue it behind the brown colour ark.
  6. When these had been done, glue the brown colour ark onto the rainbow paper plate to form a pocket.
  7. You can decorate the rainbow paper plate by glue the regular size craft sticks to form a wooden house shape and glue the Prophet Noah at the side too.

After I have done a sample, both Issac and Annabelle were so excited and happy to see this craft.

Little Tree Craft ^^

IMG_9643

We learned about “I Am Thankful for the Trees Plants and Flowers” today, that trees, plants, and flowers make the earth a beautiful place to live in.

IMG_9644

Trees are important to us because trees provides shade or home, trees provides food or fruits, trees provide shade or a place to play, trees provides fire woods, and there are so many things that are made of wood.

IMG_9646

Flowers make our world beautiful, and Plants provide us food.

IMG_9647

After the little games we have with the children on counting the fruits and vegetables, then we have our craft for this week!

IMG_9648

You'll Need:

  • Brown colour pens or crayons
  • Green colour construction papers
  • Glues
  • Decorative flowers stickers

IMG_9649

To Make:

  1. First, draw a tree trunk and colour the tree trunk in brown colour.

  2. Cut the green colour construction paper or green colour tissue paper into small pieces. Or alternatively can use the puncher to punch the green colour paper into tiny small round shapes. I used both methods and I prepare for all the children.

  3. Add the glue onto one section on top of the coloured brown tree trunk and then scrunch and add the pre-prepared green colour paper onto it. Continue adding glue and tissue paper to different sections as you like to shape the tree as you want to.

  4. After glued the greens on the paper, then let the children start adding flowers stickers on the places they want to, they can colour the background as they like.

They were having fun doing it, as they just use their hands to pat the green leaves onto the paper!

Umbrella in Rainy Day Craft

IMG_9636

We are learning “I Am Thankful for the Water” today. We learn that water was an important part of the Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ Creation.

IMG_9637

We need water for many things. We learned about the stories in the Scriptures which are related to the water, such as Moses and the Israelites in the wilderness.

IMG_9638

Water is important in the Church such as John the Baptist basptizing Jesus in the Jordan River.

IMG_9639

IMG_9640

We use water during being baptized and passing the sacrament.

IMG_9641

After the lesson, the children got to do this fun little umbrella craft with raindrops! They had a blast adding the raindrops to their umbrella!

You'll Need:

  • Colour pens
  • Colour construction papers
  • Scissors
  • Glues
  • Small straw

IMG_9642

To Make:

  1. First, choose the colours for your umbrella. Cut out the pieces. I just drew the parts of the umbrella freehand. Then, because I got these dark purple and light purple construction papers, so I used it.

  2. Once you have assembled the umbrella pieces, use the glue stick to adhere them to the construction paper.

  3. For the arm of the umbrella, I used the drinking straw of the packet drinks. So, it is just nice to fit our small paper.

  4. After glued the umbrella on the paper, then let the children start adding dots of raindrops all over the paper by using the colour pens or crayons.

I enjoyed the project because it was fun for them and easy for me! Here are the children’s works!
