So Tired!

Both of Issac and Annabelle always so tired everyday after I fetch them from school. Both of them will be fall asleep during the journey from Mecaje to my office like this…

IMG_2793

The change of school and study times seems has changed to longer hours, but actually is not. This is due to the school starts at 8.45am instead of previously 7.15am at SRJK Chee Wen and ends at 4.00pm instead of 1.35pm.

A huge change to them, they still can adapt to it, just physically tired. And then the travelling time from home to school and from school to my office, then back home is even longer compared with previously.

During at SRJK Chee We, I fetched both to school and after they off the school, the school bus driver fetched both only from school to Mahkota Tuition Centre, then just wait for me to fetch them home while they were doing their homework and tuition.

Hopefully the change of school would be a right choice that Alvin and I made, as I can see Issac is getting more interesting to his study which is a good sign.

Yeah! Still tired or them.

Seafood Feast!

Today is a Sabbath. After we came back home from Church, Mummy helped Daddy to cook his new recipe which Daddy wanted to try.

Yesterday we bought some frozen bamboo shells, scallops and claims at Village Grocer, Citta Mall while we were waiting for both Issac and Annabelle finish their art class. We bought some ingredients as well.

Daddy cooked the bamboo shells in curry curry style, while the scallop and claims with fish maw in plain steam style.

Well… Overall not too bad… We should try with fresh seafood, would be much more nicer! Thumbs up

Good Manners & Courtesy School ~ Personal Hygiene Classroom

Serving Others #6 ~ Learn about and practice good manners and courtesy

CapturePersonal Hygiene Classroom is our 2nd stop for the Good Manners & Courtesy School.

Under the Personal Hygiene topic, there are a few areas which we discussed, such as dental care, daily care to our body because our body is the temple.

Brushing Teeth – At least twice a day after waking up in the morning and before going to bed at night.

  • What is the correct way to brush your teeth. Using small circular motions, brush all sides of each tooth and the gums.
  • Brush backwards and forwards on all chewing surfaces. Take the most care with the back teeth.
  • IMG_2615After you’ve finished brushing, you should spit out any leftover toothpaste, but don’t rinse out the mouth.
  • Rinse toothbrush, and put somewhere clean to dry.

Wash Your Hands – After going to toilet, before and after eating, playing with animals, after brushing hairs, after playing outside, before preparing food, etc.

  • Wet your hands with running water – either warm or cold.
  • Apply liquid, bar or powder soap.
  • Lather well.
  • IMG_2616Rub your hands vigorously for at least 20 seconds. Remember to scrub all surfaces, including the backs of your hands, wrists, between your fingers and under your fingernails.
  • Rinse well.
  • Dry your hands with a clean or disposable towel or air dryer.
  • If possible, use a towel o elbow to turn off the faucet.

Wash Your Hair – Wash your hair often keep it neat and tidy by brushing and styling as often as you can.

  • IMG_2624Wash regularly with shampoo.
  • Massage your scalp well. This will remove dead skin cells, excess oil and dirt.
  • Rinse well with clear water.
  • Conditioner is helpful if you have longer hair as it makes the hair smoother and easier to comb, but hair doesn't need to have conditioner.
  • Use a wide toothed comb for wet hair as it is easier to pull through.
Clip Your Nails – Keep your nails short and clean all the time.
  • IMG_2622Nails should be trimmed after taking a bath or shower because they are softer then
  • Nails should be cut straight across to prevent ingrown nails
  • Rough edges of nails should be smoothed down with a nail file or emery board.
  • Not to cut the cuticles as they protect the nail root.
  • Teach them to scrub the dirt out from under their nails before bedtime.

Take a Shower – Take a bath or shower at least once a day. Change your clothing daily.

  • Regular baths or showers will keep child clean and healthy.
  • Bathing at the end of the day can also be part of a bedtime routine.

Capture0Other than that, there are others area we discussed such as foot hygiene, changing clothing daily, toileting hygiene, coughing and sneezing hygiene and home hygiene.

How they can do their parts in helping and take care themselves from falling sick by keeping their body clean and health.

Finally, a crossword puzzle to help remember what we should all be doing for personal hygiene. Personal Hygiene is important as part of courtesy and manners too when we interact with people.

Good Manners & Courtesy School ~ Good Manners Classroom

Serving Others #6 ~ Learn about and practice good manners and courtesy.

CaptureJust in time for back to school season, this activity is perfect for teaching the children some basics in manners, even though they learned it in school.

They do have a subject about all these called ‘Pendidikan Moral’ previously in Government school.

But now they also have a subject ‘Chapel’ in the Mecaje Academy Home-school.

The content of the subject is a mixture of Bible and Value Studies which are something similar to the ‘Pendidikan Moral’.

There are 4 ‘Classrooms’ in this Good Manners & Courtesy School:
  1. Good Manners
  2. Personal Hygiene
  3. Telephone Manners
  4. Table MannersIMG_2588
We kicked off with the most basic ~ Good Manners Classroom, wherever we go:
  • In the Home
  • At Mealtimes
  • Having Guests in Home
  • Being a Guest
  • General Manners Out and About

IMG_2591 Sometimes, kids being kids need to remind again and again, especially during interaction with the family members.

They would forgot and misbehaviour would happen and might hurting each other unintentionally.

As all of us are too familiar with each others, we just forgot about that.

We were playing role-play for some situations at home. Both Issac and Annabelle were merely succeed because they were laughing and playing @.@
IMG_2587
We then reversed the roles and re-did on some situations, things were much better the second time around.

As for the manners at Mealtimes, we were discussing what are the Dos and Don’ts during having meals.

Put away hand phone or tablet during the meals time or conversation, close our mouths when eating and chewing and no talking during having food in the mouth, etc.

We touched a little bit on the silverware code  start with cutlery on the outside and work our way in. We would studied that more at the Table Manners session.

IMG_2585Other than that, how and what we should behave Having Guests in Home.

A polite smile, shake hands, introduce the guests to the people in our home, offer drinks and serve the guests, and so on.

What is the proper manner of Being a Guest at people house.
Offer to help out and assist when being a guest in someone’s house, clean up and tidy after ourselves, and the most important is to show our appreciation and ‘thank you’ to the host for their kindness to assist us.

Last and not least, how we behave ourselves during we Out and About in the public areas. Most of it, I would consider some common sense that what to do and what not to do.

The kids were having fun and laughing during our sharing of ideas what suppose to do and what not suppose to do.
