The Journey to Bethlehem 2019

XSWD1841

As the previous year, our Church the Kuala Lumpur Malaysia District of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints staged, Journey to Bethlehem - A Christmas Pageant to Celebrate The Birth of Jesus Christ.

IMG_5370

"Luke 2: 10-11 For unto us this day is born in the city of David, Christ the Lord." The pageant depicting events surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ. Non-Muslims were invited to this non-denominational presentation.

This year Alvin and Issac participated and act as Wise Men in the pageant. Both of them together with Steve have practice their scripts after Church every Sunday. They were very confident as they had attended the rehearsal on the previous two Saturdays at KL Chapel.

IMG_5366

We arrived early today as both of them need to be there to wear on their costumes and rehearsal again. There are 2 sessions, one is 3.00pm and another one is about 5.00pm. Annabelle and I were just seated together at the Chapel and waited for the presentation to be started at 3.00pm. as Alvin and Issac slots were at 3.00pm.

IMG_5348

The presentation began with several musical numbers. Then the audiences were divided into smaller groups of about 20. Guides accompanied the groups to different rooms focusing on different events surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ.

IMG_5452

The first room portrayed a scholar explaining that the children of Israel had waited and looked forward for thousands of years for the Savior to come.

IMG_5485

As the Book of Mormon says, “all those who have hearkened unto [the words of the prophets], and . . . have looked forward to that day for a remission of their sins, . . . are . . . heirs of the kingdom of God.” (Mosiah 15:11)

IMG_5453

Then, the group transitioned to the angel’s room. The angels explain that they were commissioned by God to visit the earth and announce the glad tidings of the birth of Christ.

IMG_5488

After the presentation, we were given a candle signify the Savior is born and the Light is the Savior.

IMG_5460

Next, the group moved to a room with shepherds keeping watch over their sheep at night.

IMG_5494

They described a visitation by an angel and bore testimony of the infant Savior that they went to see. The visitors were given sticks of candy after that.

IMG_5462

At the subsequent stop, we came to the wise men room whereby Alvin and Issac were. They described the new star and their visit to Herod seeking the Christ. We were given chocolate wrapped with golden wrappers as it is the gold coins.

IMG_5464

After departing them, we come to Herod’s court, where we see an arrogant, worldly ruler who threatens to kill the Child.

IMG_5500

The brethren whom acted as the King Herold was indeed talented! We can feel the wickedness in his voice and tone as we were in the room.

IMG_5466

Finally, we go to the humble stable where the Infant lies asleep in the hay watched over by Mary and Joseph.

IMG_5468

The visitors, old and young, reverently pause and reflect on the simple grandeur of the holy Child.

Lastly, we were toured to the room whereby we can see many and different sets of Nativity sets from around the world. It is so beautiful.

IMG_5514

The sets were authentic. The sheep, donkey, and camel were realistic. The costumes were exquisite.

IMG_5515

The committee really put into a lot of efforts to organize such beautiful scenes for us reminiscent of that event.

79856310_2190838837682580_3605060192368066560_n

There was a marketplace at the conclusion wherein visitors received different breads, figs, dates and nuts reminiscent of that time. This contributed to feelings surrounding the event.

IMG_5474

Our family went in to see the pageant for the second time, this time together with Alvin and Issac. All of us were impressed by the acting of other brothers and sisters on the 2nd shift as well.

After the event, we went back earlier around 6.00pm and Alvin need to go back to his job site, then only come back home and have dinner with us.

9a064e77-459d-4aaf-bd09-0e98f63eca49

It is a beautiful experience for all of us, especially for Issac. He has this opportunity to act and serve at this young age and gained experience. I am very happy and grateful for the opportunities that both father and son has to serve in the Church.

IMG_5510

As we remember the great miracle of Jesus Christ coming from His heavenly home to dwell on earth, we recognize the astounding yet humble nature of his birth. He was the symbol of hope and goodness for many.

While Waiting to Discharge…

This morning I woke up early as Alvin would bring Issac over to hospital and we had breakfast together at Bandar Puteri McDonalds. After our breakfast, then we came back to hospital and takeaway a big breakfast for Annabelle.

IMG_5223

When both siblings met, they have endless conversations! The doctor came around 10.00am to check Annabelle’s condition and he allowed her to stop the drip. And to continue observation till the afternoon check up again.

IMG_5225

After the drip had been taken away, Annabelle was full energetic again! She was walking up and down and swap her bed with her brother. And has a good appetite in eating her lunch.

IMG_5227

Both Issac and me seeing her comfortably having her lunch on bed, we too went to the ground floor cafeteria having our lunch. I ordered the daily special set of ayam percik with pandan rice which come together with sambal brinjal, fish ball soup and mango drinks.

IMG_5230

Both of us never expected such a huge portion of the meal, and we were delighted! It was so worth it with the price of RM15.90++ for the big portion that we had. I never imagine that we can have such a tasty and satisfying meal in a hospital. Issac and I were super happy with our lunch.

IMG_5232

After we went up to Annabelle’s room, we were reading, playing games then till the doctor come again it is almost 3.30pm. The doctor allowed for discharge after checking on her condition. We thanked the doctor for his consultation. Then we waited for the bills and the insurance company for the discharge authorization letter for the final bills.

IMG_5231

It have take sometime till I finally settled with the hospital. The total bill is about RM1,500.00. The Prudential medical card that we hold have to pay minimum RM300 or 10% co-insurance. In the end we just need to pay RM306.00 and the rest is taken care of by the medical insurance. We reached home around 6.30pm and we had dinner together with Alvin after he came back from work.

IMG_5234

I feel as the medical cost still is bearable and fortunately we have the medical card. I could not imagine if we do not have the medical card and we need to queue at the Serdang Hospital for these few days. Probably we would end up very tire and still being worry.

IMG_5235

It is a good solution for us to go to the Columbia Asia Hospital Puchong because Annabelle has a good care in the hospital, and we have the least headache and worries about her condition. Everything is end up in the Lord’s good hand. We are blessed and grateful!

Annabelle Admitted to Hospital

Annabelle confirmed contracted with dengue fever yesterday. Last Thursday I was bringing her to Clinic Mediviron because she had the fever since Wednesday afternoon at school. Doctor did mention that have to monitor her closely as now is the season of influenza and dengue. No antibiotic was given but paracetamol only to reduce the fever.

IMG_5195

Her fever was never fully subside until yesterday Alvin felt that have to take her to see doctor again, then at Klink Mediviron the doctor said have to bring her to hospital immediately to take the blood test to confirm as her hands and arms were starting to show some red rashes.

We were so worried and quickly took her to the nearest Columbia Asia Hospital Puchong to take the blood test. We went straight to the emergency. After taken the blood, we waited for almost an hour for the result. And, it was confirmed by the ER doctor that she was contracted with dengue with the Full Blood Count 177.

IMG_5198

The doctor was asking if we would want to admit her to hospital straight away. Alvin was thinking that we took her home and observe her for a night then see how is her condition. During Annabelle was in the car, she sounds as she was having difficulties and pains, made us so worried and took her to Serdang Hospital.

There were a lot of patients queuing till the front door and the officer mentioned that with the blood count of 177 is not so serious yet. Seeing the situation at the Serdang Hospital, we just turned back to home.

IMG_5199

I cooked barley drink to let her drink and cool her body temperature down and the whole family were having porridge yesterday. We forced her to drink a lot of water.

This morning, she is doing ok. We asked Issac and Annabelle to stay at home, so that Issac can help to monitor her on eating the porridge and drinking the water.

IMG_5200

After half day in the office, Alvin and I were decided to admit her to the hospital because it is kind of difficult for us to monitor her with the blood test. Finally we brought her back to Columbia Asia Hospital Puchong.

It was kind of running through the whole yesterday routine check up again and it was really tired for all of us to wait at the hospital for the whole afternoon. From the blood test, results, admission, waiting for insurance company guarantee letter and waiting for the bed. From 1.30pm to almost 6.30pm then the hospital managed to get a bed for us.

IMG_5201

Annabelle stayed in a 4 bedded room and shared bathroom. Once we entered to the room, the environment is not too bad. She got a bed nearest to the entrance door. There are 2 storage cabinets and an arm chair there. I can stay with her for the night.

The dinner was already served there. When I saw Annabelle’s reactions, I really wanted to laugh out loud because she suddenly was so happy with her bed as she is staying in the hotel and a very delicious room service dinner.

IMG_5202

After seeing her happy staying in the room, we left the hospital back to Alvin’s job site to thumb print his attendance. Then, we drove home and I took my bath before I went back to hospital and accompany my lovely and naughty daughter!

She was already very tired. The doctor instructed to give her the drip, I guess the needle made her not comfortable and she soon fell to sleep during I reached back to the hospital about 10.30pm.  Everyone was very tired today.

IMG_5204

I feel blessed and thank to the Lord because I know that He is watching over Annabelle and our family. Later then I know, Alvin did give Annabelle a blessing this morning. That is why she is doing fine and her reaction towards the dengue is mild according to the doctor.

I feel blessed because our family has a priesthood in the house and Annabelle would be doing fine tomorrow. Hopefully she can be discharged by tomorrow.
