My First Temple Recommend

Today Alvin and I got our very first and very own temple recommend! A temple recommend – a little piece of paper – represents us and reflects our worthiness to receive the blessings of the temple.

It all began after we have been baptised last year, and we have strive to do our best in keeping the Lord’s commandments in order for us to gain a temple recommend, so that we can seal as an eternal family in the temple.

We had been interviewed by our Subang Jaya Branch President Chi last Sunday at the chapel. We have another interview today with our Mission President for the final round today.

We went to KL Chapel after our Sacrament Meeting at Subang Jaya branch. There were already members queuing for their renewal of temple recommend with President Simmons.

We just waited for our turn. I went in after Alvin coming out holding his temple recommend in hand!

President Simmons was sitting in the room, and I just sat on the chair in front of him. He was really kind and smiled at me, my fears and nervous was gone after seeing his smiling face.

We talked about the Words of Wisdom, what the Lord would ask us to observe. I bear my testimony about it and how the Lord gave me the strength and faith I need to stop drinking coffee after so many years.

We talked about the faith in Jesus Christ, and I bear my testimony about how I know I have a Living God that hears and answers my prayer, how I know that Jesus is the Son of our Living God and Jesus loves me and my family.

We talked about the Atonement of Jesus Christ that He is our Saviour and Redeemer. I bear my witness that only through Jesus Christ, that we are able to meet Heavenly Father again.

We sustained our living prophet, whom are the only person on the earth that Jesus would talk to us through him as revelator, seers.

We talked about live the law of Chastity and strive to keep all the covenants and commandments, such as the law of Tithing which I have made with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. And, how I should treat others like myself.

President Simmons filled out the temple recommend form and had me sign it, gave me a warm handshake, and congratulated me for being worthy to hold a current temple recommend.

I left the room feeling exhilarated because I had passed one of the most important tests of my life. I had been deemed worthy to hold a temple recommend.

I still remember what President Simmons said to me that, “ Remember, you are not answering me in this interview. You are actually answering to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, as I am only the one act in behalf of Him.”

I was stunned for that moment. Yes, indeed. And, most importantly this is between me and Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

I made a commitment to myself that I would always live worthy of holding a current temple recommend.
