It was Mother's Day celebration in the church yesterday, so after the lesson as usual, I let the children did some art and craft – a small flower picture frame to gift to give to their own mother.
I modify the craft to suit the younger children, as my class is actually combine with Nursery and Sunbeam, so I have children from 18 months old up to 4 years old.
You'll Need:
- Paper plate
- Cardboard or a second paper plate
- Scissors
- White glue
- Pencil
- Small bowl, cup, or any round-mouthed object
- Small pompoms, buttons, sequins, foam shapes, etc.
- Draw or print out the flowers or leaves petals ( I printed out from this website: http://www.firstpalette.com, there are so many types of flowers and leaves to choose from)
To Make:
Position a paper plate bottom side up. Use a bowl or any round-mouthed object to make a large circle at the center.
Draw a slightly smaller circle inside the first one.
Cut out the smaller circle at the center.
Start to decorate the frame of the paper plate with the flowers and leaves which just cut out from the template. Glue the flowers and leaves to your design.
Decorate the inner frame by gluing on materials like small pompoms, buttons, beads, sequins, or foam shapes. I just use some scraped colour papers and glitters for that.
Create the flower frame's backing by cutting out a circle from cardboard or another paper plate. The circle should be slightly larger than the hole at the center of the flower frame.
Cut a photo to fit inside the round backing. Glue or tape the photo in place.
Glue the backing at the back of the flower frame.
I asked the children to give to their mum and glue their picture with mum for the frame. Hope the mothers would like it!
