Serving Others #3 ~ Make a list of the qualities you like in a person. Choose one quality to develop in yourself. Discussing how showing respect and kindness strengthens you, your family, and others.
I had been trying to think of this activity and how to prepare the lesson for the children.
Then I come across this website Activity Day Ideas. I have combined two activities into one in our own Faith in God program.
I modified a bit as instead of the Easter Activity Egg Hunt, I just changed it to using the definition pages, we discussed and learned more about each qualities.
In those qualities listed, there are a number of Christ like attributes too, including knowledge, humility, charity, love, obedience, diligence, faith and hope.
After which, out of that bunch of different qualities, I asked both Issac and Annabelle make a list of the qualities they like in a person. Then decide which one are important to them, having them to write down in the work sheet.
For the second part of the lesson, we talked about what it means to have respect and what it means to be kind.
We talked about ways that having respect and kindness strengthens ourselves, our family, and others.
I was trying to come up with a way for it to be fun for the kids to learn about the qualities instead of just going over them one by one.
So I asked both Issac and Annabelle to choose what qualities they see in Daddy and Mummy, that they can create for Mummy and Daddy. Issac choose to do for Daddy and Annabelle choose to do for Mummy.
I have prepared another lists of qualities in the flower petals shape, then I just start with giving the girls a bunch of qualities, then have them cut out the ones they chose. Then have the girls glue their petals on the page to make flowers.
The activity finally done with a lot of gluing and laughing!
