Today our whole family woke up really early because today Issac will be flying to Kuching, Sarawak for his first time ever Church Youth program – For the Strength of Youth Conference or short form – FSY Malaysia Singapore.
It is a five days of participating in devotionals, classes, and activities which will help the youth strengthen their faith in Jesus Christ and feel joy and belongings as they live the gospel by engaging in inspired learning opportunities and wholesome social experiences.
Issac was so excited and a little bit worried as this is the first time he is out from home without us and has to fly to Kuching Sarawak. He is more excited as the days get nearer.
This month of December is such a special month for him. As he has the chance to participate in the Journey to Bethlehem last Saturday and now to FSY Malaysia Singapore at Kuching Sarawak.
We reached KLIA 2 early and we met with other youths from different branches and their parents too. Brother Kennedy and Sister Robinia are the 2 counsellors that will accompany them fly to Kuching.
After gather all the youths and make sure that they checked in the flights, all were gathered to KFC and have their breakfast. Alvin was so pity looking at the youths and ordered the breakfast for them as most of them have not eaten any breakfast yet.
After breakfast, it was time for them to go to the boarding room for the air plane. Well, hope Issac will enjoy for the next few days and come back a New!
Here were some of the photos posted on the FSY Malaysia Singapore Facebook page later as they arrived in Kuching. It is such a warm welcoming event for all the youths including Malaysia and Singapore to Kuching, Sarawak.
The bus that transported them to the Merdeka Palace Hotel & Suites. They were checked in upon arrival and split into different groups.
Each group would have a male counsellor and female counsellor that will guide and lead them throughout the followings 5 days. All the meals are provided and all the activities would be held in the meeting halls and function halls of the hotel.
Here is the great thing that the youth did tonight! They form the FSY word in front of the Merdeka Palace Hotel & Suites and lighted up the lights. It looks so nice in the night!
As the previous year, our Church the Kuala Lumpur Malaysia District of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints staged, Journey to Bethlehem - A Christmas Pageant to Celebrate The Birth of Jesus Christ.
"Luke 2: 10-11 For unto us this day is born in the city of David, Christ the Lord." The pageant depicting events surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ. Non-Muslims were invited to this non-denominational presentation.
This year Alvin and Issac participated and act as Wise Men in the pageant. Both of them together with Steve have practice their scripts after Church every Sunday. They were very confident as they had attended the rehearsal on the previous two Saturdays at KL Chapel.
We arrived early today as both of them need to be there to wear on their costumes and rehearsal again. There are 2 sessions, one is 3.00pm and another one is about 5.00pm. Annabelle and I were just seated together at the Chapel and waited for the presentation to be started at 3.00pm. as Alvin and Issac slots were at 3.00pm.
The presentation began with several musical numbers. Then the audiences were divided into smaller groups of about 20. Guides accompanied the groups to different rooms focusing on different events surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ.
The first room portrayed a scholar explaining that the children of Israel had waited and looked forward for thousands of years for the Savior to come.
As the Book of Mormon says, “all those who have hearkened unto [the words of the prophets], and . . . have looked forward to that day for a remission of their sins, . . . are . . . heirs of the kingdom of God.” (Mosiah 15:11)
Then, the group transitioned to the angel’s room. The angels explain that they were commissioned by God to visit the earth and announce the glad tidings of the birth of Christ.
After the presentation, we were given a candle signify the Savior is born and the Light is the Savior.
Next, the group moved to a room with shepherds keeping watch over their sheep at night.
They described a visitation by an angel and bore testimony of the infant Savior that they went to see. The visitors were given sticks of candy after that.
At the subsequent stop, we came to the wise men room whereby Alvin and Issac were. They described the new star and their visit to Herod seeking the Christ. We were given chocolate wrapped with golden wrappers as it is the gold coins.
After departing them, we come to Herod’s court, where we see an arrogant, worldly ruler who threatens to kill the Child.
The brethren whom acted as the King Herold was indeed talented! We can feel the wickedness in his voice and tone as we were in the room.
Finally, we go to the humble stable where the Infant lies asleep in the hay watched over by Mary and Joseph.
The visitors, old and young, reverently pause and reflect on the simple grandeur of the holy Child.
Lastly, we were toured to the room whereby we can see many and different sets of Nativity sets from around the world. It is so beautiful.
The sets were authentic. The sheep, donkey, and camel were realistic. The costumes were exquisite.
The committee really put into a lot of efforts to organize such beautiful scenes for us reminiscent of that event.
There was a marketplace at the conclusion wherein visitors received different breads, figs, dates and nuts reminiscent of that time. This contributed to feelings surrounding the event.
Our family went in to see the pageant for the second time, this time together with Alvin and Issac. All of us were impressed by the acting of other brothers and sisters on the 2nd shift as well.
After the event, we went back earlier around 6.00pm and Alvin need to go back to his job site, then only come back home and have dinner with us.
It is a beautiful experience for all of us, especially for Issac. He has this opportunity to act and serve at this young age and gained experience. I am very happy and grateful for the opportunities that both father and son has to serve in the Church.
As we remember the great miracle of Jesus Christ coming from His heavenly home to dwell on earth, we recognize the astounding yet humble nature of his birth. He was the symbol of hope and goodness for many.
Today we continue the dream catcher design that taught last week. As usual we shared our work last week.
Then, Teacher Xue Wen taught us to use the starlight pen to draw the design of the dream catcher web.
Later how we can draw the feathers of the catcher.
Then, everyone of us was so amazed with our own work!
This morning I woke up early as Alvin would bring Issac over to hospital and we had breakfast together at Bandar Puteri McDonalds. After our breakfast, then we came back to hospital and takeaway a big breakfast for Annabelle.
When both siblings met, they have endless conversations! The doctor came around 10.00am to check Annabelle’s condition and he allowed her to stop the drip. And to continue observation till the afternoon check up again.
After the drip had been taken away, Annabelle was full energetic again! She was walking up and down and swap her bed with her brother. And has a good appetite in eating her lunch.
Both Issac and me seeing her comfortably having her lunch on bed, we too went to the ground floor cafeteria having our lunch. I ordered the daily special set of ayam percik with pandan rice which come together with sambal brinjal, fish ball soup and mango drinks.
Both of us never expected such a huge portion of the meal, and we were delighted! It was so worth it with the price of RM15.90++ for the big portion that we had. I never imagine that we can have such a tasty and satisfying meal in a hospital. Issac and I were super happy with our lunch.
After we went up to Annabelle’s room, we were reading, playing games then till the doctor come again it is almost 3.30pm. The doctor allowed for discharge after checking on her condition. We thanked the doctor for his consultation. Then we waited for the bills and the insurance company for the discharge authorization letter for the final bills.
It have take sometime till I finally settled with the hospital. The total bill is about RM1,500.00. The Prudential medical card that we hold have to pay minimum RM300 or 10% co-insurance. In the end we just need to pay RM306.00 and the rest is taken care of by the medical insurance. We reached home around 6.30pm and we had dinner together with Alvin after he came back from work.
I feel as the medical cost still is bearable and fortunately we have the medical card. I could not imagine if we do not have the medical card and we need to queue at the Serdang Hospital for these few days. Probably we would end up very tire and still being worry.
It is a good solution for us to go to the Columbia Asia Hospital Puchong because Annabelle has a good care in the hospital, and we have the least headache and worries about her condition. Everything is end up in the Lord’s good hand. We are blessed and grateful!
