Alvin booked the City Park Hotel in the middle of Phatthalung city. It gives us a modern and tropical style just from the outlook of the hotel itself.

It is really impressed us when we arrived at the outside of the hotel by looking at the facade and architecture of the hotel.

There are ample parking space just immediately outside of the hotel. And the mood of night time also very beautiful.

IMG_6977

We booked a double room so it comes in King-sized bed. It was actually not enough for 4 of us as the children have grown up too fast.

IMG_6975

We just squeez a little should be ok. Next time we should book for twin room. The bathroom is clean and neat.

IMG_6979

In our room it is well-designed, simply relaxing and warm ambience make us a perfect place for stay.

IMG_6980

There are comfortable facilities such as LED TV, air conditioner, hot and cold shower, bathroom amenities, outdoor balconies, free WI-FI internet access, coffee and drinking water, and a day bed in our room too.

In interior of the hotel is beautifully decorated and it has most of the tropical theme or feel.

Especially there are 3 pieces of lotus flowers that made by steel hang on the wall, I like it very much.

Common Area

One thing which is not so good is this hotel has a lot of mosquitoes but the hotel provided the mosquitoes repellents. Overall it is a pleasant experience. We love the stay here too!

Alvin @ Phatthalung Railway Station 26 Dec 2019

I could not help but I think have to dedicate just one page for Alvin for this. He indeed really shot some beautiful photos using his Samsung Note 10+ at Phatthalung Railway Station.

Phatthalung Railway Station & Night Market 26 Dec 2019

It was around 5.30pm when we reached City Park Hotel and checked in. We asked the receptionist for some information on where to exchange the Thai currency.

IMG_7004

She advised us to go to the local banks or we can take our chance going to Coliseum if there is any.

IMG_7010

We headed to the one and only shopping mall in the town – Coliseum where the building just at a small roundabout in the town.

IMG_7014

There is a small bank counter there. The lady asked us to come back again the next day and able to do the exchange as it was already 6.00pm and the counter already closed.

IMG_7015

We would come back the next morning for that. Then Alvin just drove us to the Phatthalung Railway Station or Train Station.

IMG_7016

It is located in the centre of the small town of Phhattaluang which are the best known visitor attractions in the town centre.

IMG_7011

Although the station building is not really special and what stands now is made of concrete and not particularly attractive.

IMG_7012

It is something that attractive to me because we can get a nice view of the Khao-Ok Thalu, a steep sided hill, from the platform. There is a tourism places to go in the station.

IMG_7013

The ticket office is located just inside the main entrance to the station building. There are 4 ticket windows although only one window ever appears to be staffed.

IMG_7017

We just took some photographs at the railway station. We saw there are some exercise machines were installed at the station area.

IMG_7022

It is like so odd to us that a railway station has this kind of facilities. Both Issac and Annabelle were happily exercising there.

IMG_7037

It was so happened that we managed to see a train was coming and stopped at the Phatthalung station.

IMG_7039

It kind of reminds me of the good old childhood days when I at my home town Labis.

IMG_7020

We were happy that we were here, at the Phatthalung Railway Station!

IMG_7044

After the sky getting darker, we just walked towards the night market near the railway station. This night market mainly is food.

Khao Mok Gai

IMG_7058

We saw the Muslim-Thai favourites Khao Mok Gai which is turmeric rice with roasted chicken. It is exactly like our Malaysian Nasi Briyani with chicken. And it taste good too with 50 Baht a plate.

Khanom Jeen

IMG_7054

it is the Thai rice vermicelli with curry. There are a few types of curry that the vendor sell. It ranges from sweet to spicy curry.

IMG_7062

Alvin ordered a medium sweet with little spicy, whereby as usual I have the spiciest one! The dish comes with some fish!

IMG_7063

And it is eat togehter with some side dish of Thai rice vermicelli such as seasonal vegetables like bean sprouts, boiled banana stalk, morning glory, and other leafy vegetables.  It taste simple but nice! It reminds me of the Vietnamese noodles.

IMG_7064

We can also find all the Southern Thai food that we came across at Hat Yai such as:

IMG_7051

Grilled Squids

IMG_7052

Deep Fried Sausages or Meats

IMG_7055

Moo Ping, Grilled Pork Skewers

IMG_7050

Fresh fruits and salads

IMG_7053

Braised Pork Rice

IMG_7049

even Sushi

IMG_7057

Finally we saw this – Fried Insects!

This is the first time we came to see this in real and we could not imagine how to eat or swallow in the mouth! Well, it has been an eye opening for us! We called off for the day and went back to the hotel and rest.
